Is this photo genuine?
Check a photo taken with On Record Camera: whether it is unchanged since the moment of capture, who took it, and when and where.
What is checked
The photo’s signature, that its certificate leads to the On Record Camera root, and the independent timestamp. Then what the camera recorded: time, place, direction and depth.
Check with independent tools
Content Credentials Verify by the Content Authenticity Initiative shows the signature and the photo’s history. It lists On Record Camera as an unknown signer, because it only recognises signers on the C2PA’s own trust lists.
c2patool checks the full chain with the On Record Camera root certificate: c2patool photo.jpg trust --trust_anchors root-ca.pem
Devices On Record Camera no longer trusts are on the public block list. Photos they signed count only with an independent timestamp from before the block.
Privacy
Signed photos are checked in your browser and never uploaded. An ID lookup sends only the ID; the answer names only the office and when the original arrived. A copy without signature never leaves your computer either: its ID is read on this computer. The map comes through our server, so your browser contacts no map provider.
